Since 1980, electronic control units (ECU) in vehicles have been implemented controller area network (CAN) bus to communicate with each other in favour of driving stability, safety, comfort and
fuel economy. More than 40 communication protocols base on CAN-bus are developed so far, and classified by the society of automobile engineering (SAE) into three classes-class A, class B, and class C. They are widely applied to the majority of the subsystems in a vehicle, such as power, chassis, air condition, body, and diagnostic system etc. The related com- munication protocol used in the truck, passenger-cargo carriage, and vessel is called SAE J1939, while that used in limousine is SAE J2284. Additional relevant standards to the automobile CAN-Bus protocol are proposed by the International Standards Organization (ISO), such as ISO 11898, ISO 15765, and ISO 14229.
